Země leží v severní části Severní Ameriky a na přilehlých ostrovech, má rozlohu 9 976 140 km2. Je omýván Tichým, Severním ledovým a Atlantským oceánem (243 791 km pobřeží). Zahraniční mise: mírové operace (bývalá Jugoslávie, Haiti, Sýrie/Izrael), pozorovatelé OSN (např. Kypr, Egypt, Kuvajt).
V rámci mise SFOR velí Kanada mnohonárodní brigádě sestávající z čwských, britských a kanadských vojáků.
